Previously, on the morning of July 8, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Nghe An province announced that an 18-year-old patient died from diphtheria, Ms. Ky Son).
The PTC patient started getting sick on June 24 with symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat. He self-medicated but did not get better. After that, the patient was taken to Ky Son District Medical Center, then transferred to Nghe An General Friendship Hospital for treatment, but due to malignant diphtheria infection, complications of myocarditis, and multiple organ failure, the patient died. died on the morning of July 5.
Through epidemiological investigation, authorities of Nghe An province determined that 119 people had contact with the patient from the onset of the disease to the time of death.
Meanwhile, CDC of Bac Giang province has identified the first case of diphtheria in this locality, Ms. MTB (18 years old, in Trung Tam village, Hop Thinh commune, Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province; permanent resident in the district). Ky Son, Nghe An province).
Ms. MTB is one of the close contacts of the above-mentioned death from diphtheria in Ky Son district, Nghe An. Currently, Ms. MTB has been taken to the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital by Hiep Hoa District Medical Center in coordination with Bac Giang Provincial General Hospital for treatment, because there is no longer antitoxin serum in Bac Giang province. diphtheria.
