The respiratory tract mucosa is damaged with symptoms of coughing up blood sputum and blood in the urine accompanied by a fever of more than 41.6 degrees Celsius, fatigue, poor appetite, and a lot of thirst. Doctors diagnosed the patient with Toxic Epidermal Necrosis Syndrome (Lyell) suspected of a reaction to the drug. Patients may also have damage to the mucous membranes of the eyes, mouth, and respiratory tract. Although the mortality rate is high, so far the disease has no specific treatment and there is no consensus on treatment strategy.

Currently, the patient no longer has a fever, the skin and mucosal lesions have had positive changes, the patient eats better, sleeps, no longer coughs blood and urinates blood.

Through this case, doctors recommend, all drugs have the risk of causing allergies to different degrees. Therefore, patients should not self-medicate without consulting a doctor.

Previously, on March 4, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital also treated a patient born in 2005 with toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell) due to self-medication for sore throat and eye pain.
