Acute conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common occurrence during this changing season.

Recorded in the ophthalmology department of the hospital, the number of patients coming to the clinic because of pink eye accounted for nearly 50%. Although this is a common disease that is not too serious, if it is subjective, not knowing how to take good care and treatment will cause dangerous complications.

The Ophthalmology Department at the National Children's Hospital for the past 2 weeks has been filled with pediatric patients every day, most of them coming to the clinic because of red eyes.

"Every day, we receive from 40 to 50 young patients with acute conjunctivitis symptoms. The main cause is virus, 80% is adenovirus. In this child acute conjunctivitis has more manifestations of upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, cough, sneezing, runny nose, runny nose," said Dr. Luu Thi Quynh Anh, deputy head of the Department of Ophthalmology, National Children's Hospital.

Not only in children, but also in adults, even in families with 3 members, all 3 have pink eye.

Conjunctivitis is not a serious disease, but if left untreated, it can lead to complications such as corneal abrasions or even vision loss.

"Do not go to buy medicine for your child, should not use folk remedies, such as steaming, washing with betel leaves, because the vapors of leaves can cause damage to the baby's corneal epithelium." Dr. Luu Thi Quynh Anh, Deputy Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, National Children's Hospital, recommends.

When people see the symptoms of red eyes, itching, watery eyes, a lot of discharge, people need to go to medical facilities with eye specialists for timely and proper treatment.
