On May 9, the Ministry of Health said that Vietnam recorded 2,122 COVID-19 cases. Currently, there are 118 severe patients being treated, including 29 cases of invasive mechanical ventilation. Thus, the number of mechanical ventilation cases increased by 26 people after only 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 11,580,060 infections, ranking 13/231 countries and territories, while with the ratio of infections/1 million people, Vietnam ranks 120/231 countries and territories. territories (117,025 cases on average for every 1 million people).

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Vietnam so far is 43,197, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

The total number of deaths ranked 26/231 territories, the number of deaths per 1 million people ranked 141/231 countries and territories in the world. Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths ranked 7/50 (3rd in ASEAN), deaths per 1 million people ranked 29/50 Asian countries and territories (ranked 5th in ASEAN).

On May 8, there were 23,984 doses of COVID-19 vaccine injected. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered is 266,296,051 doses, of which:
